“Heartland Legacy” is considered by most people to be Jon’s signature piece. On December 31st, 1985, Jon and his son Adam were traveling east on Highway 36 near Barry Illinois after visiting Hannibal, Missouri. Late in the afternoon Jon spotted a farmhouse across the fields. He turned off the highway, then spent the next few minutes racing through the corn stubble on foot trying to capture this place on film, before the sun set. “Heartland Legacy” (the first in the “Heartland Series”) was the result.
