There was a time when the foreman for the Standby Mine lived in this now abandoned cabin in Rochford, SD. The mine was considered the most active producer during those years of the gold rush in the Black Hills. From 1879 – 1909 this home was a part of the activity of roughly 1000 gold miners looking for their fortune. Many dreams were realized and many were lost. “Fragments of a Dream” is a reminder of life during the search for riches and wealth.
