The Hopperstad Stave Church has stood for nearly 900 years in the outskirts of Vic, Norway. A full-scale replica was built between 1996 and 2001 in Moorehead, MN to honor the Norwegian immigrants and their culture in the Midwest. Inspired by the Chapel in the Hills, Rapid City, SD, the Hopperstad Stavkirke stands 72 feet high and was constructed of pine from Minnesota. Today it hosts weddings, tours, community events and serves as an educational tool for the area.
