Now just a memory, “The Old Lodge" in Spearfish Canyon was a respite for weary travelers as they passed through the deep but narrow gorge carved by Spearfish Creek in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The highway follows an old railroad grade that was abandoned after the flood in 1933. “The Old Lodge” has a very special place in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to stop for the night or just enjoy a cup of coffee during the day.
