A sanctuary is a place where all living creatures may find respite, reconciliation, and peace. The “Seven Sacred Horses” were given this quiet refuge at Pathways Spiritual Sanctuary, where they could live out the remainder of their years on earth. Sacred to Native Americans, the mustangs in this painting were most likely descendants of horses that once lived wild and free among the buffalo across the northern plains. Located near the Dumont Trailhead on the Mickelson Trail, the sanctuary invites visitors to pause, reflect on their own experiences, and view the outer world with love, compassion, tolerance, and forgiveness.
